First day of Fall
Few cars hum by
As the glow from the moonlight illuminates the sky
A transcending blue filled the muted grey night
Crickets and grasshoppers chirping
Creating a twilight song of nature
The French broad river flows below - unseen but heard by those who listen
Stars and planes light up above
They twinkle and dance creating a show
Black trees the color of their shadows are surrounding the corner’s of the view
An overlook of the blue ridge mountains
the first day of fall
The night is still familiar with summer
An all too similar breeze that will be gone soon - to be traded with frigid air
and colorful dead leaves
but home is still home
